I have Silkie babies for sale. I have 4 splash and 2 black and the rest blue. I also have a barred sex-link male chick that needs to find a home. He will hopefully get the little silkie mix tuff on the top of his head.



 
We were charging the guys at DH work $2.00 but they all started giving him $2.50 on their own when feed and food prices started going up. We get sell just enough eggs to cover costs.

The dogs get eggs as well so that reduces their food costs and helps pay for the ones not laying yet and the cockerels. I think we about break even.
I love that the birds are enthusiastic foragers.

One professor had us look at the sponsors of the subject matter. He didn't come right out and say it, but the implication was that the funding sponsor "might" have influenced how the study was reported.

Think about it. If my research is sponsored by a particular interest, I am not likely to find results that contradict the agenda of that group.

That is a very interesting point, and very true I'm sure. Thanks for sharing that insight!
The best thing we can do for ourselves despite of all the contradicting ideas out there is to eat fresh, eat local, consume more vegi and eat everything else in moderation. In my opinion nothing beats natural.

When I have extra eggs (maybe once or twice in the last year? I hatch too much!) I charge $5 per dozen. I also feed Scratch & Peck organic - not so cheap.

When I help sell friends non-organic eggs, they go for $4 per dozen or $3.50 for two dozen (mostly to encourage them to pick up more than one dozen.)

I'm close to Seattle - probably a lot different on the dry side of the state.

Not really, but remember you cannot show a bird with clipped wings, and it does limit the bird' s ability to flee predators.
The cut flight feathers can also be sharp should the bird flap at you it can scracth you up.
