So what you're saying is chickens like to complain and moan up a storm if they don't get their way? Yeah...I'm seeing this all the time lately! LOL They're so bratty! I went out to "play" with them in the run for a while and my favorite chicken all but chased me out of there because she was being so mean and biting my legs! Brat.

Ok - was getting worried with our Bantam in there, that he would affect their egg size, which to me shouldn't as that's how most breed up from bantam. But being this is our first stit with Roo's & Hens.. wasn't sure. Also thought maybe we had a Bantam type bird that needs to go in with the Banties. We cant move the Bantam Roo, in with the other Bantams since would be more Roo's than Hens. Found my Frizzle slowly developed into a Roo.. now there's 3 Roos with only 5 hens...which means my Frizzle Roo needs a new home.

We had gotten a bunch more babies - which looks like some Roo's may pop outta that bunch as well... BTW! -- the Chicken Math is a killer... we now have total 50 Chickens...lol -- buuuut my dad had gotten as a "surprise" for my mom her "Silkies" -- which makes up 9 of the new babies, then 2 Buff Frizzles 1 Smooth Frizzle- Only ones that are Bantam -- Rest are standard Layers- 2 Salmon Favorelle, 4 Cochin, 3 Americaunas, 3 Orpingtons --- We lost 1 baby, most the shipment was dead when they opened the one box... so I had gotten 3 of each since they had such a rough trip, wasnt sure if any would make it... we may lose 1 more, she's doing same as our 1st orpington did... not really developing... still just as small as when we had gotten them, rest have doubled to tripled in size but that 1.... =(

Failure to thrive. Not all that uncommon. In the wild, the flock would sell-cull this one.

Anyone know if Roxy is a rooster? she is 8wks old today.

And is it true that the comb doesn't turn red until they are ready to lay eggs?

(still new at this) :)

I think Roxy is a Rocky...and the one behind him in the second picture looks to be a cute little boy too. They're only 8 weeks, both of them?

Will wait & see for the lil one - Hoping will pull through & do well or Banty mixed with Standard by accident. Only thing to do is wait it out. Dont wanna jump to conclusions. Our Orpington didnt really show signs of not maturing anymore til 8 weeks or so, then we lost her. *crossing fingers* - but rest are doing wonderul - gonna have another beautiful bunch based on the coloring coming in =) Silkies sadly just look GOOFY.... think we have a for sure Roo in that bunch, goofy bird is very large & looks like a Cockatoo...lol

Those combs and wattles are pretty red for 8 week olds. Looks like you've got two roos. Sorry - they're both very pretty!

ETA: At least the barred if only 8 weeks is looking roo-ish to me.

I'd do the same thing -- wait and see :)
