My kids are having so much fun! They've been out back quite a while playing happily with the hose and water balloons. William woke up and is out there too! I just heard some playful screams too, and they just found their 3rd frog of the day. The first was in Jeanine's boot that she tried to put on for Flag Football, that was a hoot! She brought the boot to me and when I tilted it towards her so she could see it again, it jumped out onto my shirt in the house! LOL The second was by the hose, who knows where they found this one. We have SO many!

I finally let the girls out of the run since it's only gonna get hotter in there. Only 4 eggs this morning though...I really hope some of them come back to lay some more this afternoon! Oh! And I'm so excited, my Wellie named Pip finally started checking out nest boxes! She has been in all 4 of them at different times today, arranging and rearranging the straw. Here's hoping I get my first Welsummer egg today!!

I'm dying to see if it's a darker color than the other brown egg layers. I have no idea why my RIR and Renee's RIR lay completely opposite colored eggs! It's bizarre and I wish mine were darker.

Does anyone without small children happen to want/need a 5 month old laying black australorp? I will sell Dartha (yup, we love Star Wars here!) for $20. She just attacked Jeanine without provocation. Jeanine was just sitting in her little backyard chair and all the chickens gathered around and Dartha jumped up and bit her undereye. I would also trade her for any laying hen under a year old. I really need to keep as many laying hens as we have but we can't keep her. Just when I thought she was super sweet and nice she shows her true colors again.

Can anyone tell me what kind of spider this is? Te body is quarter sized and we have them indoors and out...i see dozens of the daily

These are common around here, garden spiders.
The females are huge !
They are harmless to us as far as I have seen, and they eat BUGS !!!!
I try not to disturb them or kill them...they are even kinda pretty, actually.
Illia is our resident bug expert, and has been missing in action for a while, but she would know their real name.
I have many building beautiful webs criss crossing the tomatoes in the green house, and it is difficult to get in there & pick toms with all the webbery.........

I think you read me wrong. I said I would travel AS FAR AS south Seattle...not as far south as Seattle....LOL Yes, I'm southeast of seattle, south of renton, north of puyallup, east of auburn/fed.way, etc.
From the south side; Covington is 44 miles from Rochester Wa which makes it about 35 from Olympia (or thereabout).
