I just found a little clutch of 10 super cute small green eggs! They were in the grass and wet, think they could hatch???

You could dry them out and try them. Are you thinking incubator? Or putting them under a hen.

The eggs I recently hatched had been refrigerated for a few days.

4 old chicken incubators - 3 are round galvanized metal and one is a square wood box with a plexiglass front viewing door.
They probably need new ballasts to work ? - $20 each.
Assorted old shop lights - some have regular floursescent bulbs and some have grow light purple bulbs - 4 foot bulbs - $20 for all of them.

What kind of thermometer do you guys use in your brooders? Right now I'm using a meat thermometer (oh, the irony... and their future in-garage dust bath will be a roasting pan... LOL... yes, there are times that I find humor in the most inappropriate things). The meat thermometer works fine, except one of the chicks have taken to it as a pillow. When chicks sleep on the meat thermometer, you don't get accurate readings.

I don't. I just let the chicks tell me if the temp is ok or not.

Oh, such a relief! Now all we need is them to hatch vigorous, lively, and the opposite sex ratio from the group in May.
I just spent a half hour pulling Hamburg waterproofing back together; I didn't realize until today but the cows had pushed the fence around getting to the last green grass, and in doing so had knocked the roof supports to heck. So instead of whatever else I thought I was doing tomorrow, I've got to fix that.

Got a NASTY storm coming in...it is seriously DARK HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Supposed to be 3/4 to 3" of rain here on the coast (we had 3/4" yesterday DH informed me)
AND lovely 50-65 mph winds (I bet Illia is hating this storm !)
AND to top it off, chance of lightening...YIPPEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I now have 3 BLRW hens laying.....another one started laying again over the last few days. Hopefully another one will recover from their molt soon and start contributing. When that happens I'll let you know about the eggs for your neighbor!

Dirt floor --- hmmm... I really hope she was not using the deep litter method and counting on the heat from the composting process to keep her birds a touch warmer in the winter.

Deep litter on dirt is a no no...the dampness of the soil can make ammonia as the bedding breaks down...GOOD WORK JESS !!!

I live in Edgewood, Wa just north of Puyallup.
I was also hoping you all could share my new facebook page for rooster adoption I set up.. I have alot of city friends that ended up with beautiful (and some rare ) roosters that the city law folks won't let them keep...

Just to let you know, the "Partridge Chantecler Rooster" posted there is not anywhere near a partridge chantecler......wish I could find a GOOD SQ Black Copper Marans Cockerel though...let me know if you find any ?

G'morning, all.
Do any of you kind people have access to a weather site that lists year-to-date and month-to-date accumulated precipitation?
For some reason all the ones I can find are obsessed with temperature and have dumped wind and precip information, both of which are much more useful in talking about daily weather impacts.
I fear it's more evidence that the clueless suburbanites are taking over.

Try this one, it is a fun site...you can animate the radar maps, or change the radar station to elsewhere (anywhere in the USA)
