wasps in the coop

thanks everyone, I'll be trying some (maybe all at once..lol) of these methods! Had me a long benadryl "nap" after posting, so just now reading replies. Thanks for your help.

I also used WD 40 on wasps nests that were up on the eaves of our house. It doesn't work immediately, but it gets the job done.

Whatever you do, please be careful. Or better, have someone else do the spraying. With allergic reactions, they get worse progressively. The next sting could be deadly. Do you have an epipen handy?

Carbureator cleaner or "starting fluid" (ether) kills them instantly, and evaporates immediately

You are right, every sting seems to get a little worse. No breathing troubles YET, but never know when it'll happen. SEVERE swelling, itching, fevers, and light headed so far... went outside a few minutes ago and saw 3. Guess I'm indoors for a while...grr

I agree with the latter posts: use the soap method and get someone without allergies to do the deed.

I'm not trying to steal thread so please pardon my question here

Does the hot water and soap method work on yellow jackets?

I always keep a can of the Hot Shot wasp/hornet killer on hand..it is the one that shoots like 12 feet...really good and Very effective.

Hi Deb, Yes, I think it does. The watery-soap mixture covers the respiratory openings and suffocates them. Be careful!
