It won't be as bad as the 1st time uf you catch it in time. My hen has it right now and needs draining but she is acting perfectly and even laying eggs. I have had it drained by a vet once in June. She's going to keep suffering from fluid build up.

It's chronic, & usually chickens with it end up having to be put down anyways. She maybe acting fine, but that's what chickens do to hide their pain since they're prey animals. They'll hide their pain, until they can't no longer. It won't be as bad as the 1st time uf you catch it in time. I know. Her comb is no longer blueish and it is standing up normally. I know she won't live long, but I'm going to do everything I can to keep her alive for as long as she is eating. It's chronic, & usually chickens with it end up having to be put down anyways. We did end up putting her down. RIP HannahI think at this point I'd put her down. It's clear at this point whatever is going on is very severe and even if you were to somehow get her stable, it would probably flare up again

I think it's time for my hen too. It's so sad. And I feel so useless. She's walking around looking for something to eat in my kitchen but when I offer her egg yolk, meal worms or chick starter, she just looks and walks away.We did end up putting her down. RIP Hannah
There wasn't anything you could have done to begin with really, the stuff that tends to cause that to happen tends to be incurable and will wind up being fatal eventually anyways. You've done everything you could have and more for her. No need to feel guilty, you did wellI think it's time for my hen too. It's so sad. And I feel so useless. She's hungry but doesn't want to eat. I am going to try some miconazole and egg yolk mixed with honey today, and call around for somewhere to euthanize her. She only weighs 2 lbs!
I guess I bought her a few months by taking her to the vet, but I still feel rotten.
Thank you, but I still feel awful. I'm down to 3 hens now. Two are not friends with the docile one whom was friends with my ill bird. She's going to be heartbroken also. There wasn't anything you could have done to begin with really, the stuff that tends to cause that to happen tends to be incurable and will wind up being fatal eventually anyways. Try vanilla yogurt. If she won't eat voluntarily, dip her beak in it. Works with my girls.I think it's time for my hen too. It's so sad. And I feel so useless.
