Water for winter

the cookie-tin heater is what I made to set my waterers on.

I need to figure out how to keep a much larger container from freezing.

Would a stock tank heater use much electricity or work for this?

I still haven't found the thread I was looking for, but Thank you everyone for all the wonderful ideas.

Booswalia- thanks, I'll check at my local co-op. I have a working pet bowl but would like another for an upcoming second flock...and I think Home Hardware has them but you might have to get one brought in...
