I have only had my 3 girls for a month now but am having to change their water 3-4 times a day. They have a 1ltr hopper outside and a 3 ltr inside. Every time I check them they are filled with sand/ sawdust or poo and the water dots coming out! I've moved them about but not sure what to do now. Ice heard buckets get just a dirty or knocked over. Any suggestions please?

There are also "nipple watering devices," where the chicken learns to nudge the nipple to get water - this eliminates litter & dirt and poo, etc. getting into the water. I'm told the chickens usually learn pretty quickly how to use it.

Thankyou for the info will research those and see what they like the best. Thankyou!

Welcome to BYC!

Yes, you need to elevate your waterers off the ground. I put mine up on an over turned tub or cinder blocks. Keeps the crud out of the water.

Good luck with your birds and welcome to our flock!
