Hello,it's been a while ..
I have a large barrel with a hose going to three nipple/cups ..
I have only been filling it about a third (30 gal)
What can I add to the water to keep the koodies (slime) away ..

I've read that you can put copper inside the waterer to keep it from getting slimy. Get a couple copper fittings and put them in to see if it helps. Also penny's before 1982 were 95% copper, they would work also.

I use two 14 gallon drums with horizontal nipples, I don't have a problem with them getting slimy or dirty. I rinse them out 2 or 3 times a year. One is in the coop and the other is in a covered run.

Yeah I don't have an issue with slime or dirt either. I've never done more than rinse out my waterer every once in a while, and that's clean enough. Main reason for this is my adult waterers have all been fully opaque, and I keep them in the shade. No light = no algae can grow.

ACV actually caused slime to form in my chick waterer, so not sure how it would stop slime/algae from forming.
