Any thoughts on how to keep water clean longer?

I give fresh water daily. I have a 3 gallon waterer, but I carry a gallon of fresh water twice a day in the summer and once in the winter. I also have separate containers I use for Gatorade when it's really hot outside and I will fill those up with plain water if there's no Gatorade in them.

By doing this, I only wash out and disinfect with oxine when it starts to look a little dirty on the bottom. It doesn't get that dirty often. I'm pretty anal about keeping the coop/run clean of their poop and clean it out several times a day. It helps keep the flies away. I'm in the coop quite a bit since the chickens are more like pets then for eggs.
