Thank You. They have been helping me with keeping the grass. During summer they need nothing else. Just water, shells and some dirt.
I know they look skinny on the pictures, but they where young. They are not skinny now.

Danish geese are very strong. The last few days they have been skating on melting ice. It is warmer now after three very cold weeks (5 F/- 15 C), thats bad here because of high humidity and strong wind. They dont mind, just eat a bit more. I guess most geese are like that.

Are they your first geese? I know when adolescent they can look pretty scrawny, when we got our Toulouse goose this past Aug, she[ 4 months] didn't look very filled out but now she does. They don't seem to mind the cold much except the legs, seems they have to warm the legs up every once in a while.. Nice to have those warmer days too for all of us. Mine have been enjoying a bit of warm weather too, they get to play in the pool and enjoy being outside with out the freezing temps.

Yes, they are my first geese. I have heard that they look better young if they are hatched and raised naturaly.

We have chickens and buff orpington ducks too. They are not pets. We do eat them, but I try to treat them well.
The three geese had more than 1200 apples and a lot of plums during fall. They eat better than me, and I have a hard time giving them freedom to pasture and keeping them safe from foxes at the same time.

Are you producing chickenfeed? I guess you are not. I just saw something on that webpage (naturalchickenkeeping).

Fermented feed? yes very easy to do I'll get you the link.

Baby is definately doing very much better. She let herself out of the barn today, to sit in the sunshine just out of the wind. She's acting more like a real goose, and boy is she vocal. I remember when I celebrated her being at 50% WONK. I'd say she's 100% wonk, and about 40% mobile.
