Pic from last July:

Lucky the duck (on the right) and 4 young sebbies in my front yard. Sadly, Lucky the duck, after a 6 week struggle to recover from a dog attack, died. She was my first hatch of 2012.

Julia is immensely grieved. In fact, ironically, she just came in and wanted to know if I'd given her the niacin again, cause she thinks it keeps her alive. She's talking about her in the chair next to me know. She's figuring out how old Lucky is. Her face is still red, she'd been crying again. She really loved lucky, and tended her carefully. I'm hoping she'll decide she wants to hatch something, that'll help.

yes new babies tend to be the best cure..... Shortly after my Grandmother lost my granddad, Granddad's sister-n-law took her life and left a 3 month old infant and a toddler. My great uncle moved in and Grandma did much better having a tiny baby to carefor then anyone thought she would have.
