Sorry for the late update on Brownie. I was out of town when Brownie was on her last days of the antibiotics and meloxicam treatment, so I couldn't bring her back in to see the vet for checkup as the she suggested. Doc recommended to put her on meds for another 7 days until I can get her into the office for check up if needed. Brownie shows signs of improvement and has been with the rest of the flock during the day, but she is still kept inside at night since it is a bit chilly at night. I am planning to put her out tonight with the rest of the hens. She is fed with oatmeal, tuna, eggs and layer feed. Basically anything that she likes to eat as the vet suggested. She would peck on the regular feed from time to time, so I have been mixing the regular feed with eggs and oatmeal which she likes to eat. I also add some yogurt in the mixture as well. Her feces is still a mix of loose and solid. Sometimes it's all solid. I don't know if the loose stool is a side effect from the meds or not.
Although she appears to be fine hanging the rest with the rest of the hens, I have noticed she's making noise while breathing waking up in the morning. It sounds like she is wheezing and her breathing sounds labored. She seems to lose her voice a bit too. She is not sneezing, coughing and she has no nasal drips or anything like that. I have been apply some Vetrx on her nose and put a couple of drops under her wings at night. She is not making that noise while walking around the yard. I am not sure what is going on with her breathing. Is it a concern even though she seems ok?
