Watery/foamy on left eye

Was her full crop puffy like a balloon or doughy or firm? Mineral oil is very good and acts as a lubricant in the digestive tract. I don’t like to give oil straight into the beak, because they can choke on it. Better is to mix in something like a raw or cooked egg, and whip it to mix in, then let them eat it. Many use frozen coconut oil cut into pieces as well. It would be good to use an antifungal such as Medistatin (same a Nystatin) or miconazole (Monistat 7 cream or 1/3 suppository twice a day. Here is a link for Medistatin:

Yesterday morning her crop felt like a water ballon, but his morning it felt much firmer. Looks like Medistatin may need to be purchased online, but I will call around local pet stores to see if they have it. Will go with the egg / oil mixture as she likes eggs a lot.

We visited the vet today and doc did an x-ray on Brownie to diagnose her enlarged abdomen. There was no egg stuck in there and the enlargement was most likely due to excess fluid that may be preventing her crop from emptying food properly through the pipe. She did not rule out EYP. She did not want to perform any procedures on Brownie for the enlarged abdomen at this time but to put her on antibiotics for 7 days by prescribing Amoxicillin Trihydrate 250mg twice a day and Meloxicam 7.5mg half pill twice a day for anti-inflammatory. She also gave Brownie eletrolytes injection at the office. She hoped the meds would help with the enlarged tummy and get Brownie's to digest normally again. Fecal sample is being tested for parasites and cocci and should be avail in 2 days. Doc felt it will probably come back negative, but if she had to prescribe meds she said she wanted to give out the right wormer based on the results.

Sorry for the late update on Brownie. I was out of town when Brownie was on her last days of the antibiotics and meloxicam treatment, so I couldn't bring her back in to see the vet for checkup as the she suggested. Doc recommended to put her on meds for another 7 days until I can get her into the office for check up if needed. Brownie shows signs of improvement and has been with the rest of the flock during the day, but she is still kept inside at night since it is a bit chilly at night. I am planning to put her out tonight with the rest of the hens. She is fed with oatmeal, tuna, eggs and layer feed. Basically anything that she likes to eat as the vet suggested. She would peck on the regular feed from time to time, so I have been mixing the regular feed with eggs and oatmeal which she likes to eat. I also add some yogurt in the mixture as well. Her feces is still a mix of loose and solid. Sometimes it's all solid. I don't know if the loose stool is a side effect from the meds or not.

Although she appears to be fine hanging the rest with the rest of the hens, I have noticed she's making noise while breathing waking up in the morning. It sounds like she is wheezing and her breathing sounds labored. She seems to lose her voice a bit too. She is not sneezing, coughing and she has no nasal drips or anything like that. I have been apply some Vetrx on her nose and put a couple of drops under her wings at night. She is not making that noise while walking around the yard. I am not sure what is going on with her breathing. Is it a concern even though she seems ok?

Hello, today is day 13th of amoxicillin for Brownie and her condition has not improved. She did show signs of improvement after day 4 of antibiotics and meloxicam treatment as said the previous post. However, the loose stool hasn't gone away and she hasn't been eating much the last 3-4 days. I have noticed her crop hasn't empty in the morning and last Friday and Saturday morning it felt like a golf ball. I proceeded with giving her coconut oil and massaging her crop a couple of times a day. It has not felt as hard but it does not seem to clear up. I took her back to the office for a follow-up and this time doc switched up on her antibiotics to SMZ/TMP for 7 days along with the meloxicam. She said the new antibiotics may help with the respiratory and crop issues. She will follow up end of the week.
