Hi All. Concerned about 2 members of my flock (hen and rooster). About 2 weeks ago one of my hens started having watery green poop. A rooster is now having it. Can anyone shed some light on this? They’re otherwise eating and drinking well and are very active. They eat a layer feed but I spoil them at the end of the day with corn.

It's been said "layer" having the high calcium levels needed for hen's egg shell, it may/could cause liver/kidney damage for chicks/Roos.
You may want to update your profile with your location ... IF it's warmer weather & the chickens have been drinking more water than usual, it's a possible cause for watery poop. That green you're seeing looks to be possible some kind of foliage? Do they free range? Get green veggies?
In the last pic, looks like a round worm (long thing white object) ... Did it come from the poop? If so, they I'd worm your chickens. Depending on where you're located, check out your feed stores & majority have a 14 day egg withdrawal period.

Thank you for your reply and sorry for my late response. The vet saw my rooster on Friday and he believed it could be caused by cocci and possibly chlamydia. Said Chlamydia Can cause a greenish diarrhea. He gave him 2 doses of Ponazuril and prescribed doxycycline. I’m scared to death to administer the doxycycline tablet so he has gone the weekend without doxycycline. He took cultures from his cloaca and upper esophagus, results are pending. Anyways his poop is now solid but remains green. It’s not watery anymore. My hen was also given Ponazuril and he also gave her Albon. She’s now on day 5 of Albon. Believe her poop is not as frequent and less voluminous so I think I’m seeing an improvement. She is eating her layer mash and drinking extraordinarily well. Both are also on probiotics as well.

Help anyone. Despite receiving treatment with Ponazuril, his poop remains bright green. Occasionally he’ll poop water with flakes of green. Has anyone seen this before? I’m starting to get worried.

Where are you located in the world?

@Eggcessive @casportpony

Your vet prescribed Ponazuril, Doxycycline and Albon - did you finish the course of treatment?
Did you ever get the culture results back?

What do you feed including treats?
Any chance that your feed got moldy or rancid?
How are the birds acting?

I’m located in Southern California. He performed stool cultures and checked for coccioides. It was negative for cocciodes but stool had heavy e. Coli growth, the toxigenic type. Vet said it was sensitive to a fluoroquinolone and I’m adding it to his feed. He’s acting normally. Vet said the e. Coli infection can certainly cause this clinical picture. But I’m impatient and start googling for more information and frequently see that other dreadful diseases can also cause the bright green poop and I get frightened. I also read that it’s green because of excessive bile and he’s not reabsorbing his food. I can’t see my life without my little boy. He’s everything to me. Perhaps his feed outside in the coop got rancid and he ate it. It’s all in God’s hands. Thank you for your support.
