Watery poop

help!
Well the watery poop has started again. I can’t find the Valbazen and the only other dewormer I can locate is Safeguard paste for horses. What to do??
Should I try mixing diatomaceous earth with food?

I would not mix DE with the food.

If you want to worm her, you can use the Safeguard paste. Dosage for Fenbendazole is the same regardless if it's liquid or paste. Give 0.23ml per pound of weight orally for 5 days in a row.

Is this hen laying eggs?

No she isn’t laying and hasn’t for months. She is molting and before that started she loss her sister to a predator during daylight hours. I’m guessing, hoping these are reasons for her not laying.
I have to go out of town Sunday and will start the Fenbendazole when I get back.
thanks

Glad to hear that her droppings are much better.
Eggcessive,
She had her first solid poop yesterday or at least the first one I am aware of as I have been out of town for medical reasons.

should I still give her the worming med for five days as you suggested??

Hi Eggcessive. I started the safeguard dewormer on Monday. Have not seen any real improvement yet but I missed one day. It rained all day. I’m a paraplegic and it was too hard to get out in the yard.

The package suggests to deworm every two months. Is that necessary?
A woman at the feed store told me chickens stop laying after two years old or so. Is that true?
Thanks

Hi Nolagurl,

What I've read is chickens should be wormed twice a year. I have some chickens that are 4 years old and they still lay. I think they can lay longer than that but they may slow down and the egg quality may go down.

Thanks PaulsArt. I hadn’t heard or read that hens stop laying so young but then what do I know. Thanks.
