my polish chickens seem to have these poops, but not my two silkies with them. They have had these poops most of the summer and seem happy fine. But I still wonder why? Is this normal? THank you!

Welcome to BYC! :frow

I agree with the first poster.. the more water that goes in will also come out and chickens don't pee separately their urates come out with droppings. The dropping itself does look fairly normal/expected.

I do however question the little stringy thingy in the upper left quadrant of the picture.. just above the where the two boards meet and just inside the left wetness line.. Is that possibly a worm? I haven't yet figured out how to zoom in and circle the item then re-post for clarity. Noting only large round worm species and tape worms may ever be seen in droppings and all others will stay in the intestines with only microscopic oocysts (eggs) passing to never be seen by the naked eye.

What is the age of the birds? Ever had a fecal float done or wormed them? Or discussed local soil type, weather pattern, wildlife load, stock density, etc.. with a local agriculture department or veterinarian? With a note that they (internal parasites) can and do pass intermittently and MAY not ever show up on a float.

Now I'm not sure that isn't just something digestive.. and really have't had much experience with internal parasites or worming stuff. But do get some more feedback (from the poop experts) please. :sick
