I've heard of someone doing this, but can't remember where I heard it or what type of wax they used.
Can anyone help me out?
I got my first Golden Sebright egg today from a pair I got last Saturday and I'm not sure how it happened, but now there's a tiny dent in the egg. I'd still like to hatch it if possible.

Here's a picture of it. Is it too bad to fix?

Thanks!

a little brush off elmers glue lighztly covering it. or clear nail polish would do the trick. any brand of the previously stated items will do.

I used a lighter to melt a crayola crayon on a damaged egg figuring its nontoxic, and I saw veining last night.
If you do this keep candling and sniffing it regularly because if its got bacteria in it it could go bad and hurt your hatch.

YES IT DOES JUST SMOOTHE IT OUT A DROP OR TWO OF IT SHOULD DO FINE. jUST USE UR FINGER OR SOMETHIGNAND LIGHTLY SPREAD IT OVER THE AREA.let it dry first though!! IF YOU PUT IT IN WET U MAY RUN THE RISX OOF HAVING TO YANK IT AWAY FROM THE BATOR AS IT MAY STICK TO THE WIRE. INJURING THE EGG MORE.

tAKE CARE

Yea just melt and spread some candle wax over it real good. That should do it! Oh and GOOD LUCK!

I had a duckling hatch out of a severely dented egg (about three times the size of your dent). It hatched out FAST too--it was the fastest of the entire bunch, from pip to pop. However, it became dented at about 25 days (ducks incubate for 28), so it was already well developed. I was terrified that I had killed it, but I still have that duck a year later.

I didn't try to repair the damage, but it's different if the egg hasn't begun incubating yet, because the egg will lose moisture through the dent if you don't repair it. Wax is a perfect way to do it. I've heard of people using tape, but I would think it would still lose moisture that way.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I tried the candle wax. I hope that I don't have too much on. I plan on setting it next week with some others. I'll try to remember to post an update after candling.

I appreciate the help!
