We are attempting incubating again

Glor,we were going to move them to the brooder the morning that my dh found them dead.sniff sniff,we have 8 more eggs but since none r trying to hatch, believe they for some reason not gonna hatch.sniff,sniff.
tues due to ducks n geese eggs r due for lockdown the ckn eggs will be disposed of.
Hoping all of the duck n geese eggs will hatch n survive, but not giving up im determined to get 99% sucess hatching rate.

When mine hatched I left them in the incubator for about 12 hours +/- to dry off then moved them to the brooder, and get them drinking water right away by just dipping their beak in the water before settlng them down (didn't know if you knew that part).

I never tried to have a lock down incubator, the concept sounds good but I'm more familiar with having 1 simple incubator ( I invested in the Brinsea octo eco-20) after someone I loaned my big metal one too moved and took it with her, so I just use simple incubator & brooder made from a card board box, I get dog food delivered and it comes in a box that is just right then I use a new box for a new batch of chicks. You try diffrent ways to see what works best or you.

I figured eggs that didn't hatch was from the hens that had laid the fertal eggs the few days before that I collected and the rooster was slacking lol. Plus I only have 6 young hens that lay eggs. :@/

Glor,we r moving ducks n geese eggs tomorrow morning n sadly we have not had anymore hatch in the chickens eggs,so we did not get the hatch rate we expected ,but got 2 just apparently we suficated them by not moving them out of incubator fadt enough.aparently we still have alot more learning to do..sniff sniff, praying sucess with duck n geese eggs end if this week

No matter how much reading you do you never get a whole and Simple step by step story on how to hatch eggs from begining to end which is

I don't know if I am repeating myself our not but just incase you didn't know, when the duck are going to start eating,
do not feed them medicated chicken food. when they are new borns and are use to drinking water
I would mix some of their mash with water to Make a slop kind of soup for them just to make sure they would get water and nutrishion
And so they wouldn't choke on the dry food. They will be such a messy fun job. I will be waiting to hear about the ducklings.
What kind are they?

I am hoping to get turkey eggs this week, I can't wait either they are suppose to be 3 diffrent breeds but I don't think they tell you what they are
They are coming from Murray McMurray

Just got my turkey eggs today, I have a few eggs from our peahens not sure if the peacock did his business we shall see.

Glor,u are sooo right about incubating/hatching process, its soooo FRUSTRATING!my ducks r due today to start hatching,my geese sat.to hatch, but no signs yet...fingers crossed!our peacocks r due in 2 weeks so that is the ones im praying for 100%sucess.....as far as ducks they r the blue swedish n rouen, not mixed together...lol

I'll keep my fingers and toes cross for you.

I am getting my little nephew into chickens now he is 3 so if any of my chicks are roosters I will give him a nice rooster and a hen or two if I get a few hens from my 8 to start with, they have a small coop my father inlaw had built quite a while ago and he passed so they live on the property in the house. I told them they're paying big taxes on they should use it so I told them June 1st to have the coop ready to run.

Depending on how many hens I get will deter an if I do another hatch. I want to learn about sexing now and the genetic of colors ect. There is so much to learn on that end I love always loved biology so going to love that. Seems it is a little diffrent with chickens hard to wrap my mind around it lol.
