We are attempting incubating again

I had put peahen eggs in from our peahens but I am guessing that because they were not layed in the nest that they aren't fertile because you can see threw them and they would have been do today suppose the peahens know if they are fertile.

So far 1 baby turkey born at 26 past 12 noon time, there is 3 other eggs that look like they have something in it I hope at least 1 more hatch the baby turkey is lonely! Right now it has a beanie baby chick (tiny one) in there so I will give them a few extra days. Told my husband if no more hatch this may be a house turkey waring a diaper lol.

I have had guineas before but the foxes end up getting them this time I am trying to make these more friendly my last one was gotten back in April/may. When the fox looks for easy food for their cubs and the guineas I had weren't smart enough to go into the coop before dark (and they say turkeys are dumb...lol). Yes I notice a lot more ticks since my last gueniea got eaten so looking for to them growing up.

Good luck with your new batch of eggs. Look forward to your posts. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to post a picture

Did you post your pictures from a smart phone desk-top or iPad ?

Angelak, Only 1 turkey egg hatched, working with Murray McMurray for some consideration. It is a cute baby bird so much more friendlier and advanced than chickens and Keets loves to be held and at 3 days days old trying to hop out of the brood box and always trying to look out to see what is going on. It is a Black Spanish Turkey. I have to admit I would not have been disappointed if I got a diffrent breed but I was hoping for the dark one that looks like it may be the kind that looks like pictures of the Pilgrims with the big bird. When are the pea eggs suppose to hatch?

Glor sorry to hear only one baby turkey hatched, the black spanish r beautiful turkeys especially the toms.1 of my favorite colors r the blue slate .The peas r due next weekend, soooo excited gonna recandle them when I get home tomorrow...I we ill be at work so I will miss them hatching n im sad about missing them, but dh will be pestered by my all weekend for updates..lol he might ask for a divorce b4 its over...not expecting my muscovey ducks to hatch bc if the high humidity n not being able to get it dwn

Hi Angelak, thank goodness though Murray McMurray is giving me credit, they wanted me to crack the unhatched eggs so I did thank goodness I was right that they weren't fertile I would have felt bad if they were. I'm sitting here with the turkey chick, funny what very friendly and curious chick it is?
Compared to chicken, ducklings, guiena keets, and it yells (peeps) to get attention. I would not be supprised if the duck did hatch after all the mother would be going swimming quite bit. What kind of incubator are you using? mine is a Brisea brand with a fan in it and it has a little hole with a slide type thing I can make the whole larger or smaller to let the air More air in or out if yours uses a dish type you could cut back on the surface area of the water or take some out with a sponge, or paper towel.

glor,im using a lil giant for the duck eggs n 1 guinea egg iI found lying in the driveway...just for giggles i put it in....pea eggs n ckn eggs r in the genesis,my brother felt so bad for us with no air this year, came n fixed our air,so had to add water to both incubators today, since humidity in house is gone now..lol everybody growing n sooo excited we r on trac.its amazing to c their eggs n beaks during candleing not to mention them moving.....still praying they continue to develop n hatch healthy...

I keep my temp at 99.5 and the humidity 50-55 in the begining the towards the last few days it's between 55. And 65 mostly 55 though and it seems to work well. I will try next year for a another turkey or turkeys, the next shipment of eggs wouldn't be until August and that's to late I like when the sun can help brood them and not worrie about the cold nights.. It is late here in MA where are you from (3am) going to hit the hey.

glor atleast u got 1 special turkey...im in tn near ky.I have 1 pea chick i think is not fertile n 1 that seems to have a saddled air cell.do u know if they will hatch healthy if saddled cell?my chicks r growing ,along with the peas 2 for sure,m 3 ducks.Hatch day will prove success or not starting next week(thurs) n following (sat) for peas.

I would think they have just as much chance as the others just the air pocket is just a little different, my peahens eggs weren't fertile either, just as well I need my chicks to grow a bit more so I can put them in with the parents then I will have a free brooding pen. The gueina keets are the dumbest bird, i opened their brooding pen door so the could go outside in the wire area and they couldn't figure how to go inside before dark (when people say turkeys are dumb I have to disagree ). You are in Gods country we have a small place in WV hope to move there sometime soon I believe TN is 2 hours from us there. Are you going to sell chicks or eggs? Saw that some commercial breeders sell the 4week olds between $14 to $17 a bird. Con grates on the pea baby that is exciting, so Happy for you. Ow many peahen eggs did you start with to get 1?
