We ARE MOVING.....ALABAMA.. UPDATE pg.14

You could build yourself an underground house and live in tornado alley. Oh and an underground chicken coop of course.

My DH has always said he would LOVE an underground house. Me, not so much.

I could not stand an underground house....I have to have lots of big windows I can see out of. It would remind me to much of a bomb shelter, no, I could not handle it! (I could handle a tornado selter for those emergency situations)!

Well, you've been fortunate. I had a lovely pet dog get bitten by a water moccasin and killed practically right in front of me.

We had to "relocate" multiple water moccasins within yards of the house we have south of the M-D line. I really don't care much for going out of my house and having one coiled up in front of my front stoop...

Well, the area where I live doesn't have either.

I grew up in a state, by the way, that had a high population of bears. Thankfully, though, the area that I lived in had no bears and no rattlers (which were frequently found just a couple of counties away).

I can live with the random rare sighting of a mountain lion, bear, etc. When they become common in the area where I live, though? I will start looking for some other place. I may be descended from pioneer / mountain man stock, but any desire to encounter wildlife that is capable of doing me harm missed being passed to me...

I have been fortunate in finding my little "islands" free of most such creatures. The last place I lived DID have the water moccasins, but none of the other creatures on my NO-WAY list...

Ok, the job that my DH was looking at just became available in Prattville, AL. It pays $65K/per year....not sure that is a good salary for that area, but I will check it out. I am also not sure of the cost of living there and the internet is usually not real accuate, any Alabamans out there?
