We are first time chicken owners. Our ladies are about 11 weeks old. My husband and I built our own coop and run. We didn’t really know what we were doing so it took us way longer than anticipated and the girls stayed in the garage for longer than they wanted. When we came out in the garage and they were standing on the cars and shelves, we knew we needed to speed things up. They are so much fun and I am enjoying this chicken life!

Looks sturdy but the vent size and position I question.

I think Ideal is 1 sqft per each standard bird.

2nd all the stuff you want to vent it gonna build at the high point in the ceiling. Your vents are at the low end. That means it's all got to build up before it can escape.

Great looking build!

Nice thing with this set up is if OP needs more ventilation, a large amount can be added on the tall wall facing the bricks as there is both a roof overhang and even a wood panel covering the end which should provide plenty of weather protection.

There are two more vents like this one that are just inside the human gate that I didn’t include a picture of and they are on the very highest side of the coop. And we installed the window backwards and leave it open all of the time. We are pretty close to the 1 sq ft per chicken.
