I don't know where all the black pups came from, I figured we would get some chocolates and yellows...I'd love to get some feedback on this...

Yellow to Chocolate
Produces 100% Byc




you will never get chocolate and yellow from your chocolate..Unless you breed her to a yellow boy that carries chocolate. I would search out a black boy that carries chocolate and then you will get blacks and chocolates. IF you bred her to a yellow carring chocolate, you will get puppies
that are 50% Yc, and 50% Byc​

I should add that chocolate to chocolate always produces chocolate..Unless one of them is factored with something else..

you won't get a tri colored litter or yellow puppies out of your grump if she is 5 generations of chocolate. She is genetically chocolate, so no yellows, unless you find a yellow carrying chocolate.

chocolate is a recessive gene and cannot be expressed unless both parents carry it.

I'm wondering if you're planning to breed this girl again?
I might be interested in a future puppy and I'm not far from you.
I think I would want a yellow or chocolate though as I already have a black.

Well I have some bad news...Amber (the first born pup) died, Mags fell asleep on her last night

So now we're back to 8.

tpflabs, thank you for the info, it had me a bit stumped as to why they were all black, but that clarified it.

PineBurrowPeeps, this is my first time breeding labs, but not my first time breeding in general. We may end up breeding her again, not sure though. We have a friend with a black male, so we'll have to see if he's carrying chocolate.
