It's not like that, really. These days people don't have the opportunities to meet that we once did. Most people don't even know their neighbors. Often, not even well enough to feel the need to nod or wave.Yep. Online is a "no" in my book, too.
Give me face-to-face conversation and real looks at the person. And plenty of time with them -- several years. Then I'll decide what I think.
You connect with someone online and agree to meet in some neutral, public place. Then if you want to, see one another again, maybe go to a game or a movie or whatever you like doing, and get to know one another better. The only thing the internet part is useful for is an introduction to someone you would otherwise be unlikely to meet. Long distance probably isn't worth pursuing, but it's a good way to meet people who live nearby.
