We Quit Cigarettes

I wish you luck. Smoking isn't something I'd ever want to do, my parents did it (Mom continues) I begged my parents to quite, father did. It took him I think around 3 months to stop. He kept himself busy by doing the things he enjoys (Building, working in the yard, etc). He'd also chew on gum.

I hope you get through this. :hugs
Well done, wishing you all the best, take one minute, one hour, one day at a time,

I love bacon, but I don't like cooking it. Mostly it chills in the freezer section.
I don't like cooking it either, makes a damnmess!
So I cook the whole package at once and freeze the strips in foil...bacon, fold over, repeat.
Also trim off most the fat and render out for refrieds.

How do you cook the bacon?

SIL lays it out on a broiler pan and broils hers. I imagine the oven is a little greasy. Haven't inspected it.

I put mine in a dutch oven with the lid cocked to let the steam out and cook it slowly. Lid keeps the bacon spit contained for the most part. I cook on medium for a while. Frying in a pan and getting spattered and grease everywhere is not worth the effort.

Mom used a George Foreman electric grill thingy. She loved that thing and only used it for bacon.

Just regular 12" pan on the stove and scrape out drippings between each 6 slice batch.
Med-low heat to semi crispy.
Use a smaller pan to render fat, very low heat, takes a few hours.

Would much rather clean the stove top than the oven...or an electric appliance!!

Does it get crispy at all in the dutch oven?

I like it one step below carbonized. I get accused of burning it. Yes, extra crispy. Slow to cook. I'll take the lid and drain the water that condenses on it into the sink. Instead of draining the drippings, I add 1/4" of grease so the bacon cooks instead of burning to the dutch oven. Deep fat fried, if you will.

The higher sides better contain the pops. The lid also contains most of the pops even when cocked open to let the steam out.

I agree. Don't like cleaning the oven. Better than a grease fire, but don't like cleaning the oven.

I also use chop sticks to turn the bacon. Didn't like tongs, fork or the neat little bacon turner thing that looked like a pig tail. Called a pig tail food flipper. Imagine that.
