We Quit Cigarettes

I'm going to have to reread this last part a few times before it makes sense.

I have only been watching sodium and sugar levels for the last few months...not for me though.

I don't know a thing about carbs.

I am now focusing on fiber and protein numbers.
Once I've got them down pat I'll figure out the carb stuff.

One or two at a time for me.

It can be very confusing. Basically for me to control my blood sugars I have to watch the carbs 100% of the time. For most products carbs are carbs because either insoluble fiber is not listed or just not there at all.
Best to conquer one thing at a time. ;)

Good thing I never ate their meat 🤮 I just the beans and rice, but haven't in a very long time.

Still reheated....aka....leftovers. 🤢

So diabetics need to watch sugar and carbs?

I need something interesting to focus on and diet/food labels interest me.

I've almost convinced my whole family to start paying attention to food.

My stubborn mother just agreed to change her house's eating style.
I jumped with joy.

If my ticking time bomb doesn't wake up soon he's going to be poop out of luck.
I'm this close to stopping trying to help him if he doesn't want to help himself.

Taco bell is garbage. My cousin worked there many years ago and oh the horror stories... did you know they reheat and reuse the same meat for several days? maybe that has to do with the fact it makes people sick?🤢🤮pretty much everything is already cooked and packed then sent there.. reheat,reheat,reheat.. nothing is fresh to begin with.

I feel like most fast food is like that though. But still. :sick

For me, I have found that cutting out the bad carbs like sugar and bread actually make me feel better. It also made me realize how much sugar is in everything!

I have so many eggs right now that I’m about to go on an egg eating frenzy for the next three days. If I even last that long 🤣

I never Last more than a few days if that lol I do get sick of eggs though haha

So the endocrine system is ..... complicated.
The body converts carbs to sugars so sugar is listed under the carbs in foods.
Starchy foods are also problematic as that is a form of carb.
Potatoes.....delicious potatoes.....:(
Corn, peas, grains, pasta, quinoa, rice, beans, juices, milk all are carb heavy.
Fun fact....the flour used in processed foods is a low grade quality. I can eat homemade baked goods like dinner rolls but it is best not to buy prepackaged as it is far higher in carbs.

Yeah I’ve actually cut back on a lot of drive thru restaurants I used to eat. I find that homemade food is both fun to make and you know how old the ingredients are. Also, I don’t get heartburn nearly as bad with homemade food.

Not sure on the laws of the entire USA but where I live and in a couple other states I saw that the legal age got bumped up to 21 for buying ciggs.

Well better than reheated meat 😂 I never got sick from there, but I never ate there often. I like Chili's. They have the best black beans and rice.

How is @Kiki today? Any let-up on symptoms??

The game-changer for me was the book Let Food Be Your Medicine, it is by a christian doctor but now i am actually underweight and have trouble gaining! It changed my whole mindset on a lot of processed foods, sugars, etc and I read it in like a day because it was so interesting.

I wish I could get my MIL to change her eating habits, how do you even do that lol

Who's ticking time bomb?

I have slowly like really slowly introduced more veggies into my families eating. They really love the veggies I make. They cut out red meat too. They only eat it once a month.

People don't realize how important it is to watch what goes in your body. It might not affect you tomorrow or next month, but it will catch up to you eventually. A well nourished eating habits is everything. Just because they sell it at the store, doesn't mean you should consume it.

Oh yes!! Same goes with physical activity! Like not using the proper position to pick up heavy stuff or a bunch of other stuff that ends up affecting you when you’re older and not during the poor choice moment.
