We Quit Cigarettes

I read a lot of health book. The China Study is one that changed my life. I also watched a lot of documentaries, but I forgot the names. They basically showed what happens when you eat certain things and also where our food comes from.

We live near a Tyson chicken farm... The day I saw a chicken truck 7 years ago is when I went vegan or plant based. It was a slow process, but seeing how nasty those birds looked made me never want to eat meat again.

Yeah I’ve actually cut back on a lot of drive thru restaurants I used to eat. I find that homemade food is both fun to make and you know how old the ingredients are. Also, I don’t get heartburn nearly as bad with homemade food.

Not sure on the laws of the entire USA but where I live and in a couple other states I saw that the legal age got bumped up to 21 for buying ciggs.

Yeah I don’t really eat that anymore either. Couple years ago I was eating Wendy’s and Taco Bell and stuff like every single day :th Subway too but I don’t do that now. Then last year it was Panera all the time and sometimes subway. :lau now I mostly have a Five Guys addiction :lau :th they opened one a lot closer to me than their other location haha

Been trying not to go though. I don’t really go there a ton but been like at least once a week last few weeks. Sometimes twice a week haha

I was cooking for a while last year and liked it. It’s fun and I got pretty creative but lately I’ve been kind of lazy/tired/hungry/in a hurry

Like for example when I just made toast this morning cause I was in a hurry. And sometimes I forget to eat for so long that by the time I finally do I am starving and just want something premade.

And yeah it’s 21 here too.

Oh yes!! Same goes with physical activity! Like not using the proper position to pick up heavy stuff or a bunch of other stuff that ends up affecting you when you’re older and not during the poor choice moment.

I don’t move nearly enough and I have horrible posture. Also pick stuff up completely wrong a lot

That's why I make huge portions and put the leftovers in the fridge then when I'm starving I can just make it quickly. I ALWAYS have steamed rice made in the fridge and some type of veggie. That way when I get hangry because I forgot to eat, I can eat something healthy.

So the endocrine system is ..... complicated.
The body converts carbs to sugars so sugar is listed under the carbs in foods.
Starchy foods are also problematic as that is a form of carb.
Potatoes.....delicious potatoes.....:(
Corn, peas, grains, pasta, quinoa, rice, beans, juices, milk all are carb heavy.
Fun fact....the flour used in processed foods is a low grade quality. I can eat homemade baked goods like dinner rolls but it is best not to buy prepackaged as it is far higher in carbs.

This ! carbs go to sugar, your body says kick in the insulin and then "I'm hungry. Eat more."
