We Quit Cigarettes

My husband was buying these all-natural cigarettes, not like they are any better but they were probably $8 a pack. I think they had like an Indian on them or something. I can take a picture of the cigarette pack because that's the last pack of cigarettes he smoked about 5 years ago that he handed me for Christmas. I have it in my car dashboard, but he has my car.
It's called American Spirit and they're made by RJ Reynolds

His blood pressure is nuts...all of his cholesterol numbers are insane.
His glucose fasting was prediabetic range.

The blood pressure ..... Is he going to get treatment for that?
The cholesterol?
Prediabetes is certainly not good either.

I will share my numbers....
First A1C taken 45 days after finding I had an issue and eliminating carbs was 11.3. Three months later with meds and dietary changes was a 6.8. I go in next month for another test. I am hoping to be 6 or below.

That is a naughty way to live.
I don't want anyone to go through what I have because of not knowing what their body is doing inside.
Please get a test kit set up and test yourself. It comes with a booklet that tells you when to test timing wise.

Complications from diabetes are real and serious.

Yeah I know

I do need to start taking it seriously and trying. There’s a few other things I don’t take seriously enough either. Like this foot thing I have. And the moving thing. I literally barely move. I need to try to get serious about everything.

I just love sweets and am a major sweets addict so it’s hard but I also don’t even really try lately.

I guess maybe I could just way reduce them? Like eat them way less often or eat like one bite when I do eat them? But moderation has always been difficult for me. If it’s there, I eat it.

And often snack even if I’m not hungry.

I’ve tried eating healthier and last year I was cooking a bunch which I loved but I only did that a pretty short time. I take forever to cook even simple things and get pretty tired doing it ha cause every single thing takes me like an hour or two even simple supposedly fast things and then it’s just one meal anyway. So it ruins the fun and creativity I have when cooking. I love coming up with stuff but hate all the time and effort. And also I only make the same few things so it gets super boring too.

But I need to try. I don’t think I take it seriously enough.

I’ve cut out fast food and soda and fried food and all the really bad stuff but I still eat pretty bad. Not nearly as bad as I used to (I’m talking pizza, fast food like Wendy’s and Taco Bell, soda, Oreos/carp, etc. daily for a while) but not exactly good either. I haven’t eaten like that in years but I’m still eating sugar and bread and stuff which is probably just as bad.

But I can never seem to stick with anything :(

"Simple" carbs are the ones you have to avoid. Like highly refined stuff that have had all the fiber and nutrients stripped out: white sugar, white flour, processed potatoes, etc. But "complex" carbs in their natural state are great, so: fresh fruit and vegs, whole grains, potatoes with the skins on, etc. Eat food the way it comes from nature. Cook it yourself, if it comes in a package don't eat it!

Thanks very helpful!! I definitely need to be better about cooking and eating healthier. I want to and I’ve tried a few times but it’s a lot of work and I also always seem to only make the same few things. :(

EAT more PLANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no alcohol, or very limited, and like someone above said limit sugars (the Candida that can overtake your GUT love sugar, makes you gain weight, crave foods, depressed, anxiety, all kinds of metabolic disturbances.

That is true. I’ve heard diet can play a huge role in certain mental health conditions, especially depression and anxiety. Which makes sense as there’s a lot of bacteria in the gut and a huge gut/brain connection. And I do find it true for myself. When I eat tons of sugar and bad stuff I get very depressed. So I have to be careful.

Well, our roads are long and straight mostly very rural. :gig But yeah, we slow down as evening comes on. You don't have to, but there are deer and sometimes elk, so...

But still!! Ours are like 60, 65 haha up in Maine some of them are 70 but I can’t imagine having the speed limit that high! I go that fast a lot but can’t imagine having everybody go that fast

Don't try just do. :hugs

The hidden sugars omg the hidden sugars are everywhere!

Maybe start by cooking a new thing a couple times a week. Seriously find a recipe that has some favorite thing in it like chicken but is different than anything you have made before.
Before you know it you will have a whole book of new favorite things that make you want to cook.
