We Quit Cigarettes

Animal science sounds fascinating! Though I do understand about the emotional and financial toll of higher education. I am constantly stressed and exhausted...and my only “kids” have feathers or scales :p
What aspect of animal science drew you in? In there a particular field you are interested in? :pop
I started just so I could do what I was already doing better. Things have changed quite a bit for me since then, though.

There is a lot that draws me to this field of science. Animal care, management techniques, genetics and reproduction. My focus is in food animals, I do NOT want to work with dogs or cats for my own reasons.

Oooh care and management sounds like it would be so interesting 😍 Genetics is way over my head but I am sure it has tons of amazing research potential. And hey congrats on making progress on your associates! That is what my hubby is working on now, although he is into computer stuff.

A lower level degree is better than no degree, I figure. I'm never going to get rich, but it makes me happy

Any degree at any level or field is a tremendous accomplishment that deserves to be celebrated 🎉

AND you are working on quitting smoking AND taking care of your family. You have a lot to be proud of lady!!!

NOLA people are from New Orleans, Louisiana, it's how we refer to ourselves, We started out, 300 years ago as a Catholic community and someone as if i was a christian so I could pray the Lords Prayer instead of smoking. Did I miss anything?
I grew up Catholic. My mom used to live in Louisiana.

Well, that didn't work like I had planned, so much for trying to be kind and understanding, perhaps I'll be back in a year or so when I won't get chewed out for asking people to be kind and understanding of others. Sorry I thought this was a support thread, my mistake.
If this is how everyone is going to behave while trying to quit bad habits, I think I'd rather smoke.

@KDOGG331 , sorry asking for kindness and understanding is considered "shit" by you.
Don't you dare start up a bad habit! There's tons of supportive people in here. I think it's hard for some to understand the mind of an addict and how it works especially when you've never done those things.

I had to go through my husband quitting drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol. I've seen lots of detoxing in my lifetime. I even did psychology of addiction courses in college so I could learn more about it. I have only quit smoking in my lifetime. I used to be a heavy drinker and now I'll have maybe a drink a year, I know how to control the drinking. Before I used to drink until I couldn't think anymore.

It's hard for someone who has zero experience with it to understand triggers.

You guys are all doing amazing with every step you take and I'm glad to see all of you coming together to kick the addictions. We all face our demons some day... If some are unwilling, just raise your head a bit higher because you're accomplishing something they don't have the courage to.

Keep up the good work!

Yes everyone who make an effort to quit bad habits is doing great. Try to make it work!

Take an example on Kiki, already 3 weeks without smoking. Congrats.

And congrats for all the other quitters of course.

Can someone 💓 make a list with all the names the used-to-have addiction and achieved days? I am curious who is doung well, but I don't read all the reactions here - would take too much time. And of course nice to repeat the list every day (e.g at noon New York time) for all and count one more.

Hey Urs, don't let one comment ruin your whole mood. I find it's helpful to laugh it off or just put the phone down and stress clean for an hour or so before making any brash decisions.
The internet is hard to navigate and we say things in text that we'd never dream of saying in person. Best to not sweat the small stuff.

That being said, I've loved this thread and some of you I sincerely consider to be real friends. That's why I took a few days to chew on this before saying anything. I don't know how many people care, but I'm quitting BYC for some time. I find it's very hard on my mental health to be so personal with people who are still so distant, or who don't neccesarily reciprocate or can't understand.
I thought I'd give y'all the courtesy of a heads up instead of ghosting for months like I have in the past. I hope this isn't weird, and sorry for the bad timing.
I'll occasionally check back for PM's or targeted messages when I remember.
Love y'all
