We Quit Cigarettes

@ShannonR -- You can do this. Keep it up!
I feel like the last couple of weeks for me have been an overall win. I am doing this for my health (and my finances)... slipping up was something I expected to be totally honest. But, it was not at my home and cost nothing to do! Ha. That statement is in no way a justification for my actions, but I still feel that I am moving definitively towards my goal.

Only reason I thought it was important to share, is because others may have the same experience. If that happens, you're not alone. We are all human.

Do you have a tried and true pattern like the picture or do you free hand? Thick wool is dear. Do you line or use upholstery fabric? Do you make your own fabric/wool felt?
Need more details please.
I have a pattern--Simplicity I think, but you wouldn't need one really. They're very simple. You only need to know your shoulder width and how long you want it. You can line them with anything you like, but a smooth lining fabric will slip over your clothing and make it nicer to wear. Or you could use an old wool felt blanket(s) and do one layer and no need to hem anything.

I think weaving is fascinating but I don't have the gear for that, nor space for a loom, (nor probably the patience!) I bought the fabric a long time ago, on a sale--it's not terribly thick, but it is wool. my last one was linen, black. Blue this time. Hopefully I can find something for a lining in my stash. We still have a fabric store here--they don't have a lot of garment fabrics, though.

Reality is what's in my head, not what people think they see.
Absolutely!

I have zero cravings.
Well maybe a few tiny ones but I shut them down real quick.

I can not believe this is real...I cannot believe I do not smoke.

It's very exciting.

I Heard this quote tonight, "Your head is your servant, not your master."
Who else has illustrated this better than Kiki! Not only talking that talk, but walking that walk! :yesss:

I broke down and smoked today. We all have that ONE friend, who compels us to our worst. I got incredibly dizzy smoking just the tiny bit that I did. Not the end of the world, but my day count starts over again tomorrow morning. I do feel guilty, but I still consider it an accomplishment to have gone the better part of a week without. I know I can do this. I may have to not see that one friend very often anymore, which will be really hard for me.
While I do wonder how much the Chantix helps, it isn't currently an option for me.

I hope I don't smell too awful tomorrow.
You've come too far to turn back now, Shannon! You need to do this for yourself and your family; you CAN do it. You may possibly need to take a break from your friend just like the others are avoiding situations of temptation, but that doesn't have to be permanent. Tell her/him the truth. Maybe you'll even inspire another quitter or maybe not, but either way a friend who loves you will understand. We're pulling for you! You're a winner. You CAN not smoke!

Thank you for the encouragement. Back to day 1 tomorrow!

I started smoking around 10 years ago when I was like 15. My parents smoke, my grandparents smoke, my great grandmother smokes, I lived on a tobacco plantation and my first job was in a cigarette factory. However I was never too addicted to smoking. I smoke for months and then quit for months.

Around the same time I started using khaini, which is a strong type of snuff/chewing tobacco also grown locally. I have never had problems with it. I never tried quitting it.

The whole don't think and just do stuff is magical.

My only wish is that I would have learned how to do this sooner but I am positive Chantix is doing most of the work.

Who sent this snowflake thing down here?
Take it back.
