We Quit Cigarettes

We're up to page 666, everyone. Good stuff. What a fast moving and wide drifting thread this has been!

Webby, have you gotten yourself some good sleep? How are you feeling today!?
Have you let your husband back into the house yet, or is he still evicted? Inquiring minds would like to know.
No sleep yet. I think tonight is the night‼️😴💤 I fell to sleep typing a few minutes ago .I'm staying right here on this comfy couch, hopefully I will wake up here in the morning.

Good night, Kiki. Great job making it through 24 days! Almost a month!
webbysmeme -- I hope that you get a good night's rest tonight. Sleep as much as you can, even if you get up at one o'clock in the afternoon. I'll pray for you to sleep well and long.
Well done on making it through another day, ShannonR!
Keep persevering, everyone -- you can do this! Even if you stumble and smoke, or drink, or whatever, you can get back up on your feet and take another shot. And another... and another! Do not give in -- keep it up!

I really don't care about cool. The sword cane that I used to have did not have any engraved runes either.

This is functional and does what it claims to do. When I ran out of distilled water a while ago, I did not have to make a special trip into town. It has the added advantage of not screaming "I am a still", if someone sees it.
Gray man, huh? I can respect that. :p I might get one of those. How many bushel baskets of rose petals for, oh, 15 mls of rose essential oil?
I have plenty of food....three freezers full of crap (Two refrigerators and one real freezer) and enough toilet paper for a couple of months.
I live in a large city with a whole bunch of crazy nutters.
If the stores start shutting down the poop is going to hit the fan for real.
This will blow over in a couple weeks or maybe a month at the outside. (disclaimer: I have on occasion been mistaken) People will notice that they are not dying, that the incidence of Wuhan Flu has declined, esp with warming weather.

They will notice well stocked shelves in the household paper goods aisle once the hoarders have "invested" their hundreds of dollars in TP and stop buying it--out of embarrassment if not thin-wallet syndrome.

They will purchase plastic bins in which to store their hundred pounds of beans and two hundred pounds of jasmine rice (because they're actually not all that fond of beans and rice). They will lug the new bins up on top of the old bins they filled with rice and beans against the last dud of a disaster and they will forget about them unless there really is a zombie apocalypse.

Summer will come. the Wuhan Flu will disappoint those who fervently desired this whole fake disaster to crush the world's economy. The lemmings of Wallstreet will run to the other side of the ship again and we will all gradually forget. Only I actually do remember Jimmy Carter's toilet paper shortage. :lau On account of being really, really old. We thought it was funny, but we still bought up all the tp 'cause nobody wants to be without tp. It was a blip--probably taught in no history class ever, but it was amusing.

Thank you!! I keep trying and keep falling off the wagon. Then getting right back on the wagon. Smoking once or twice a week, can't seem to stop slipping up.

I guess that my overall improvement is enormous but I keep screwing this up for myself. I'm just trying to think about how much healthier I am becoming every day. And how much money I am saving (only about $40/month, but it does help!) I am accomplishing my goals as far as the reasons I wanted to quit.

More than wanting to smoke, I want a god damned beer right now. But if I drink a beer, I'll have some massive smoking cravings and back down the rabbit hole I go. Not going there. Not today.
@ShannonR Forget about the wagon. you are faster and stronger than the wagon. You fall off, you jump back on. Do not beat yourself up, just promise yourself you will wait 1/2 hour from the time you get a craving until you allow yourself a smoke. Keep increasing the amount of time you wait until you allow yourself to smoke. Don't make it so hard you give up, but do keep yourself waiting for the next smoke, hopefully until you don't want it anymore. Good luck, sleep well and keep fighting the good fight.

Don't "Try to force it" to occur.

I'm gonna make a Douglas Adams reference here, so enjoy.

Sleep. At this point is much like flying.
The art of flying is rather simple, truthfully. You see what you do is fall, and at the last possible second something distracts you - and you miss. You see, you don't hit the ground. So... Stay distracted. ;)

Oh and always travel with a towel too.

Nite nite, sleep relaxed y'all.
