We Quit Cigarettes

That right there..... is why this thing is unstoppable.
I'm honestly just disgusted by this whole thing and the response to it.

If they want to stop it from spreading, they have to do something to keep people at home. Taking away their paychecks so they can't pay their mortgages or rent is not going to help.

basically his work said if you do not have any sick time or vacation time you will not get paid... 😳

My work has said that if you have respiratory sickness of any sort to stay home and if you don't they may send you home. They do require a doctors note but strongly suggest you use the online doctor thing to get the doctors note rather than go somewhere and get sick / get others sick. They did say that the attendance policy will not be in effect (so you won't get fired) but no mention of taking vacation verses paid time off or what. I assume they will require us to use vacation or unpaid leave. For me that isn't a big issue, I have over a month of vacation accrued that I can use if needed but I am aware that others don't have that luxury.

One of the ladies at work is pissed because we are all kind of joking around about it, but she has sickly parents that have gone into self imposed isolation so she can't go see them so she's mad at all of us.

Yes, people die, old people die... You may be able to keep them alive through this bug, but her mother has leukemia and the lady I work with is middle aged so her mom is probably in her 80's or 90's.... probably not going to keep them alive that much longer either way....

Me, I'm probably not going to get lucky enough to get the bug...

According to my religion (note, religion not religious) nut husband the original Friday the 13th was the day that the crusaders were considered to no longer be useful and most were executed. Thus the day being unlucky... but only if you're a crusader I would imagine...
Googled.....
"Roots of superstition can be traced back to arrest of Knights Templar in Middle Ages, subsequently burnt at the stake and condemning us all to misfortune for the wrongs done to them. "

..and another ...
"the fear of the number 13 – could be traced back to the 19th century belief that Judas Iscariot sat in the 13th place at Jesus's table at the Last Supper. "

Yes, I was thinking it was the Knights Templar too.
