Yipes. I hadn't thought about the food thing, but it'll be a heck of an added expense for most parents. My employers are offering employees with slightly older children to bring them to work. We've already got nine office dogs, why not add some brats?

In my state, they are closing schools but setting up free “grab and go” meal stations statewide for the kids. Doesn’t solve the childcare issue but at least they are trying.

DH works for Olive Garden and they just voluntarily rolled out a paid sick leave program so that is a huge relief for us. I work for the state so am lucky enough to already have good benefits. But DH is the primary bread winner.

Seen a couple cities here distributing bag lunches using school buses.
Another city's PO offered to check on kids at home alone.

My metal knee sets off the alarms so I always ask for a female TSA. X-rays are better.....

My mother who was around 80 at the time had to have me take the little pipe knife they wouldn't let her carry on. My mother was never a smoker and I have no idea how she came to have a pipe knife.

My knitting needles were in my carry on and made it on the plane.

TomHanks has the virus. No more NBA! One of the players tested positive. And al flights are suspended from Europe for 30 days! Oh Lord. What next

Utah JAZZ was in OKC to play the THUNDER in a basketball game. Utah player was positive for Covid 19. Just before tipoff, the announcer said the game was cancelled and the full seated arena was evacuated. The teams were sequestered in the locker rooms. The Utah player (Gott) was the first. A second player also tested positive. That's when the NBA announced the suspensions of all games, then agreed to allow the games with limited audience (mostly family) supporters.
Tests were run on al Utah players before they left their hotel for their return trip home.
Our schools closed Monday. One school in MidWest City had visits from the Utah players. That is another story.

I don't know but it has been reported that the upcoming NCAA basketball tournaments will be closed to the public.

Louisiana governor just ordered all k-12 in the state to close starting Monday to mid April

SD Gov ordered schools closed for one week (for now) to allow for deep cleaning. After that, she will reevaluate and decide whether to extend the closure.

Walmart is a huge corp and can probably afford to do more for their employees than smaller companies are able (or willing?) to do. Plus, deserved or undeserved, they've had a lot of bad press over employee treatment, so this gives them a chance to polish things up.

I read the book way back in the day, but I haven't watched the series yet. I'm usually disappointed with book to screen adaptations.
