We Quit Cigarettes

To my limited knowledge; from what I'd read up on until about 2013-ish sense of smell and taste "might" return to pre smoking level but, nothing conclusive had been proven at that time. What I do recall was 'most folks saw 50-75+% return' thru 3-6 month time window..... I don't recall details on what was the percentages for6 month onwards.

Realize this was stuff I'd last dealt with up to 2013-ish. Sooo... YMMV.

Side note. Cleaning of your homes duct work and upgrading your house air filter will also help a lot.

For my admitted ignorance in home air filters.... We'd been using filtrite 1100 4" thick filters for several years. They were actually almost worthless.... I dicovered the Merv scale.... Those 1100's were approx a Merv 6-8? Well, I've found out i'm alergic to dust mites so --- a googling-I-will-go....
Found several brands on Amazon that are Merv 11, 12, 13.... Tried them and found a Merv 14 or 15 and started them about 3 months ago. My word, the reduction of dust on stuff is very noticeable to me.

So that tangent is done for now.
Thanks! And I just changed my HVAC filter a little over a week ago. I didn't know anything about the MERV numbers on the filter though. I bought an off brand like $5 filter, because thats what I can afford right now. Changed out my vaccum bag too, for whatever that is worth.

A week is typical for when one "starts to notice" the return of smells but, full return..... Not so fast... Sorry to rain on the parade....
I might be comparing my current sense of smell to my pregnant sense of smell, because I wasn't smoking then so that's what I got to compare current sense of smell to. Pregnant chicks have sense of smell as a real life superpower.

Umm, I'm a guy, but at 78 low testosterone has tempered me somewhat - I still have the memories though. ;)

You spoke about pouring out the alcohol and becoming emotional. About 90 days into sobriety I woke up crying - WTF - I come from a family that doesn't cry. Called a friend who was helping me on my journey, and he said, "Stop and think. You just lost your best friend who you thought you could always count on, but it was all a lie." You poured one of yours down the sink. Once again I applaud you. :clap

Trust me in that it does get better. Yesterday outside the Amish market there was a group collecting donations for teen addiction. I stopped and talked to one of the kids when I made my donation. I shared my story, and he said, "Thanks you have no idea how much I needed that. I have only been clean for 49 days." Hope he makes it. :hugs
Bless you @sourland :bow
