My husband had similar talks with our boys. More about using their heads and not getting caught up in the pressures of peers. Luckily, both boys are quite intelligent. They'll never be math wizards, but have plenty of common sense.

We weren't given much direction as kids. We grew up around it and when we were deemed old enough (not by the law, mind you) we were allowed to partake as well. My brother quit last year a few months before Mama passed.

And a Happy St. Patricks day to you and all! Our bars/restaurants are closed, as well. Butte's monster parade has also been cancelled. I'm sure there will still be plenty getting lit on the sidewalks

Glad you are okay! How far are you from the epicenter?
Be sure and have your parents to check around the foundation and corners of outside brick walls for cracks or separation. Also check any outdoor fireplace structure for shifting. Inside cracks to walls and ceilings will either show up quickly or as the aftershocks continue.
Earthquake insurance is a booger to navigate. Have them make photo documentation.

Our 5.7 and 4.8 earthquakes that hit several years ago had many after shocks ranging from 2.0 to 4.0 on the Rictor scale.
Our two fireplaces had rotational shift damage of one inch. We lowered the tops and capped both with steel plates. We took out the wood burning stove in the den and capped the vent cap on the wall. The living room fireplace was converted to propane.
We have noticed significant wall and ceiling cracks since the quakes. There are also many cracks in the brick veneer on the outside of the house that we had repaired.
The current remodel will address the inside of the house.

I think the epicenter was about 10 miles away. I have felt one aftershock before, but I read in the news article that there is likely to be over 100 additional aftershocks.
