We Quit Cigarettes

Yes, I am familiar with ADHD and Bipolar disorder having served as a school assistant principal from 1989 until retirement in 2004. I worked with families whose children were on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for medicated conditions. Some ADHD students were on daily meds like Ritalin and others were taking supplements like Picnoginal with grape seed.
Some students would go off meds during the summer breaks and would transition back on as the school year began.

Bipolar disorder was as diverse as mild to severe. Some students were on no meds to some on continuos medication.
I recall one incident where a female Junior High student had a significant meltdown. The student was brought to the counseling office by the school nurse. I knew her well. When I arrived, she ran to me, sobbing and wrapped her arms around me. We ended up sitting on the floor in a corner in the head principal's office with her cradled in my lap until her mother and an ambulance arrived. Turned out the 14 year old chose to go off her meds without her mom knowing. She said "the medicine made her feel numb to everything" and she was "having bad dreams". Her doctor changed her med to a newer one and her condition improved.
The Bipolar emotional highs and lows were stressful for each young person. Some dealt with the stress by self medicating with alcohol or pot. Others simply needed daily encouragement and stable activity.
Knowing the pressures each condition created for my students, I can surmise having both must be extremely more difficult without medical intervention with medication.
@webbysmeme you are a remarkable lady!
I have ADHD. I take meds sometimes, when I need to focus on a large task, but otherwise it's not a big problem for me.
ADHD:
Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder.
I have the attention deficit type.

I don't like to call it a "disorder" though.
There is nothing out of place inside me.
It's just arranged a bit differently!:D

Apparently someone reported the person I was interacting with as their posts have now disappeared. Nope it wasn't me. I just hit the 'ignore' button. It's a while since I felt the need to do that.
Shoot I missed this.

Afternoon, everyone! Forgot to say good night last night, so good night. And good afternoon...? I think?
Well, anyway, how is today going for you guys?
@Kiki, two more days, and you'll have made it through a whole month! That's excellent, congratulations!
@webbysmeme, how are you feeling this morning? Remember, if you're upset about something, I offer my services as a grade-A rant sponge. Anytime.
@ShannonR, how are you and your little ones doing? Take care, hang in there, and watch out for Legos!
@jolenesdad, how goes the quitting? Been a while, hope you're doing okay!
Best of luck to everyone who is trying to quit -- hang in there, and keep trying!
And stay safe with this coronavirus going around, too!
(And Kiki, remember that when people are freaking out and buying all the toilet paper and making a big fuss, your sarcastic comments can always find an outlet here!).
My stores are still ridiculous.
I think our governor is going to shut more stuff down tomorrow.
Schools are handing out free breakfast and lunch and now computers too.
:th:th:th
How do these m- fers feed their children during the summer no school months?
