True...but they walk so slow on dry land they normally expire enroute to the pool.

It's more like thoracic surgery. You have to cut between the last two ribs, close to the spine. The last rib is challenging to palpate, so people sometimes accidentally open to find pink lung tissue--it's that close. I did, first time--fortunately the rooster was already dead since I was slaughtering. It's a very good thing to make one's mistakes on a dead rooster rather than a live cockerel.
