We really have the worst luck with budgies! This is just crazy! :(

Some time ago my dad and I built a aviary outside for some birds. I got 4 budgies from a friend and everything was off to great start. Then we had a rat problem and 2 of the budgies disappeared and one got attacked by a rat and died an hour later. Then one was all alone so we bought another one to keep it company. We live at the coast and the mesh we used for the aviary started rusting. The last remaining budgie which I got from my friend chewed a HOLE through the mesh and also disappeared. We again had only one budgie. So we went back to the pet shop and bought a grey/blue young budgie who became incredible friends with our other budgie. Yesterday this young, beautiful grey/blue budgie was lethargic, puffed up and breathed heavily. Instead of sleeping on its little wooden hanging ladder next to the other budgie it slept on the ground next to our quail. It squeezed in between the quail to keep warm. Today when I woke up it was still on the ground so I put up our heat lamp above it and it seemed content. It ate some food and moved around in the afternoon but had balance problems. It would hop around and fall to the front and sides as if drunk. About an hour ago it was dead. What could be the cause? My other budgie seems very healthy but is now lonely again. This is the first time a budgie of mine has died without any noticeable cause. It was always the rats or just a escape from the aviary. I read on google that it might have been a stroke. I feed them budgie seed with some corn once in a while. Has anyone had this happen to their budgie before? I really want to know what the cause could have been!

Thanks but I doubt anyone has as bad luck with them as we do! Tow days ago we got 3 new budgies! Today I found out they were very tame and flew right onto my hand to eat. I told my mom she should come in and also have them eat out of her hand. And bad luck strikes again! She stepped on one of my two female quail. I don't really blame her because the quail are not tame so they "usually" run away from feet. I had three females but one disappeared and now I have 3 males and 2 females. Maybe only 1 female soon! The quail is breathing and had her eyes open. I took her in and put her under a heat lamp. She isn't moving around just laying there and breathing.
As soon as something good happens with one of my birds something bad just has to happen!
I really hope she'll survive

Youre not the only one with bad luck i have a budgie died literally every other week. Lost 7 before on the same day then three one day and then two another time.

wow that is a lot! Good to know that we really aren't the only ones. I guess the more birds you have the more bad stuff can happen
