I know they aren't araucanas, lol. The neighbor doesn't, but I thought his pronunciation was funny.

I thought at first (after I looked up the araucana and saw they weren't) maybe they were ameraucanas, but had already decided they were EE

I mainly wondered what the color was.

Whatever they are, they are very sweet and I adorable (I think) and I love them

Flyer is a cutie, btw. We have a bantam EE that is similarly colored, but it is not friendly. Just a wild, flightly chicken, lol. All the banties are (we got them from the neighbor too .... they are "ar-you-canas" too ... yup)

I think it is interesting that in people's list of chicken breeds, EE's show up alot.

Seems to me that as long as the hatcheries have been breeding them, that the EE is an "unofficial" breed.

It may not be a technical breed, but they aren't just they average mutt either ... they lay pretty eggs

Alright y'all. I think I have decided that Rusty and Gypsy are blue partridge (sounds good to me) since they have finished getting their feathers now and are not scruffy looking teenagers. I am going to put them into their own pen and increase their light to see if I can hurry Gypsy along in the laying department. Surely to goodness it is about time! I still cannot wait to hatch some of their chicks and see if they come out the same color as the parents!

I will post new pics of Rusty and Gypsy for anyone interested. Rusty has actually turned out to be a good-looking roo (as scraggly as he was a few months ago, I really had my doubts about him, lol). I will also post pics of the chicks as they grow so we can all see what colors I come up with *crosses fingers for more Gypsy chickens!*
