I have this all white bantam cochin, she's about 4-5 weeks old. The rest of her group is thriving. After discontinuing her heating light and changing to a nipple watering system she became listless. Her bottom seemed dirty, so I gave her a wipe down. That's when I noticed she had poor control of her legs. I isolated her with a divider in the brooder and put the heat lamp back on. Her stools have been watery, now hard and dehydrated looking. My 9 year old successfully feeds moist food and waters her several times a day for the last 3 days, but she remains weak and unable to stand. She often lays on her side. I keep expecting her to die, but she hasn't. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Could she have a vitamin deficiency maybe? Maybe try getting her to eat a raw egg yolk. I know it isn't ideal, as you don't want her to be an egg eater, but nutritionally it's the best food for her. Also I have had Poly Vi Sol, iron free, recommended to me - it's a baby vitamin. Best of luck to you!
