Wow!
This is out of control.
.22LR! Nuff said!
I have fired without exageration 1000s of 22 LR rounds through a Springfield J Stevens model 87A auto loader. The gun has been in my possession for 43 years, and it was an old hand me down when I got it. Federal, SuperX, Remington, whatever I had went through that gun, even a rat shot load once in a while. Dump a shot of WD-40 down the barrel every now an then. Ain't ruined the barrel yet.
.17cal? Not for me. Ammo to expensive. In my opinion it's going the way of the 16ga shot gun. Reminds me of that 177 cal antique Benjamin pump pellet rifle. That's about the only 17 cal I care for.
243 initial cost of ammo and gun way up there. If I was going with a HP rifle I'd go with a 30 cal weapon, 30-30 marlin, 30-06, but I digress. No use in the case to proceed past a 22 cal rifle.
