Hello,

I received a shipment of day old chicks last Friday. I noticed a few days ago that one wasn't as large as the others and had a large lump on her neck. She is still very active, and seems to have not have any issues with be lethargic or anything like that. I have separated her from the others several times to get the bump on the crop to go down, by massaging and taking away food, but every time she goes back with the others it swells right back up again... thoughts?? Thank you so much in advance for any input!!

If this chick is active and is eating and pooping, a large swelling crop is not anything to be concerned about. Because of its small size, the crop will appear out-sized compared to its overall size.

Return the chick to its mates but keep an eye on its behavior. If it slows down and starts chirping loudly, then you will have reason to be concerned.

Thank you! She has always been my loudest chick, but she always seems to be ok (not lethargic or anything). She is about 1/2 the size of all the others & she is the only one that has quite a noticeable bulging crop... Still ok? & only reason for concern should be if she starts acting lethargic? Thanks so much!
