Week old chicks

I have three week old chicks that were hatched and are being raised by a mother hen. I currently have them separated off from the rest of the flock which are teenagers and one mature rooster. Should I keep the chicks and mother separated or Allow them out with the rest of the chickens.

I have a mama hen with chicks the same age as yours. She takes them out into the run every day with the other chickens. There is never a problem. But, the mama hen is also at the top of the pecking order, so the other chickens know not to mess with her. You have to consider her place in the pecking order, as well as all of your chicken's personalities before making a decision.

Keep in mind also that mama will help integrate the chicks into the flock. If you keep them separated so long that the mama weans them, you're going to have to manage integration, instead of the hen.
