Hello, so my husband and myself are new to Guinea Fowl. Last week Tuesday we bought 10 newly hatched keets from a local farm. The keets have been living in a plastic tote in our house with a heat lamp on one side, food in the middle and water on the other side. They are eating a 28% medicated turkey starter and I have been putting sav-a-chick in their water. They have a towel with paper towel lined on top that I change 1 to 2 times per day. I am a stay at home mom so I check on them very often through out the day and a couple times a night to make sure all are well and the temp is staying near 95 degrees under the lamp.
Everything has been going great until yesterday. I found the first keet dead in the middle of the day. Then today I just witnessed the second keet die. I was wondering if there is something we are doing wrong? Or if this just happens with them? I just feel so helpless. The poor babies seemed to be acting fine one minute then the next they are gasping for air layed out on their side. Then within a few short minutes they go lifeless.
Any input is very much appreciated! Thank you!
