Since I think we all want to be healthy where weight loss is a side effect I thought I'd share some of my thoughts this morning. This was a good little article I found and thought you'd like:

The more fresh fruit and vegetables you eat that don't come in a box or a bag, the better off you are. We're basically a big tube; food goes in one end and comes out the other. How the food gets broken down into energy happens in the middle there. Food with preservatives in it (that keeps it from rotting so it can sit on a shelf longer and still be sold) does not break down into energy the same way as fresh food that is full of enzymes. Heat kills the enzymes, too. The trick is to get enough enzymes from your food so that your digestive system can go about producing the right kind of energy to repair and maintain your bones and tissues like you were designed to do.
Different kinds of digestive enzymes work on different foods. Fruits digest quickly. That is why they should be eaten by themselves. If they are eaten AFTER a meal, they tend to ferment and actually begin to rot in your system causing gas and other digestive issues. Protiens and starches require different gastric juices to digest and tend to sort of 'cancel each other out' when eaten together. Your body spends a tremendous amount of energy just trying to digest food if eaten this way. It leaves you sleepy and tired instead of energized. Just think Thanksgiving dinner; and you always thought it was the tryptophan in the turkey!
Basically, without going into cell biology, here's my condensed version of food combining:
Eat fruit alone and in the morning.
Protein & Vegetables = OK
Starches & Vegetables = OK
Protein & Starches + NO, NO, NO
Drink room temp. water or teas inbetween meals. (Water dilutes the digestive juices while you are eating, a little is ok)
That's it..
So, I'll be giving you some more of my philosophy on how the body processes what we put in it and on it later. Everybody eat and move healthy today....
