The eggs are supposed to all hatch blue laying hens which when I ordered them I had not educated myself well yet and did not realize was a recessive gene rather than a breed variation. The seller claims 100% blue laying
+1 that celadons can be fragile. I had some that I purchased/hatched from someone who had purchased hers from SW Gamebirds. Honestly the worst hatches and most heartbreaking chick deaths, I think we had a 25% survival rate despite babying the chicks far beyond normal. Like, "check every hour or two and encourage the chicks to eat and drink" sort of care for *weeks*. Like you, we'd leave them alone for three hours to try to sleep, then wake up to 1-3 dead chicks.

In all fairness, these were born in winter and I've had better luck with hatching and raising babies from my own celadons/other breeders', so it's definitely not entirely due to the celadon gene.
