Weird Coating on Egg

I know this is an old string, but had to comment here. I just got one like that, too. All my hens are new layers - not sure who it came from, but I'm hoping it is just due to the "newness of plumbing" factor. Makes sense!I have a BO, RIR, BR and some Ameracaunas. Who knows whose it is!!!

I also have found the same type of coating on my EE's green egg. She is over a year old and has always been a great layer. Last week she laid the coated egg and hasn't laid since. So she isn't a new layer and I am confused as to what to do. She acts normal runs around the yard free range with the others. The only thing diffrent is we got a rooster who is old enough now to do what they do and has been for about 2 weeks. Any ideas would be great thanks.

I would first check for drainage from her vent. Secondly, check for egg bound-ness. There's a ton of threads on the subject. Just use "egg bound" as your keywords. Good luck to you and a belated
