I was incubating all the eggs from our mixed flock, and got a very unique chick. It was the result of a black cochin roo crossed with a rhode island red hen.

The chick hatched white with black chipmunk marks, and has grown into a white and black roo with very pretty coloring. We also have a pullet that looks the same. They are not barred, though.

The strange thing about it, is the rooster grew faster then his brothers. He weighed 5 lbs when they weighed 3!

I plan to cross this rooster and pullet and see what happens. I only got two this way out of about 15 of her eggs, I think.

I will post pictures in a little while.

I've gotten several weird mixes.

First a light brahma/White Polish. That is super soft, no crest, HUGE, and nearly pure white with a black tail.

Second was a white polish/RIR, and I got a Black chick with red streaks, and a crest.

What the heck. lol

I am trying to reproduce my white chick, because it is a beauty. But so far I haven't had much luck.

Can't wait to see pictures.

Unless the offspring can breed and breed true, it's just a mutt. Just like how sexlinks are mutts that are bred for eggs and color sexing, mix two sexlinks and they don't breed true.

I know it would have to br continued, till it would breed true....

I just wondered if I should try.

I don't know of the name for this color, I would just call him a splotched up roo, or party colored. He is very pretty thats for sure!

and I like the little pullet too! I had a few roosters hatched from a game hen that looked almost exactly like her, with feathered legs. (I bought her with chicks though, so no telling what her eggs came from)
