Weird egg

Gathered eggs today, found this cutie in the nest box???!!!. All my brown egg layers laid today, I do have 12 week old cinnamon queen pullets with no red combs yet .
Could this be from the pullet?

Yes it could be as it looks to be a fairy egg. All hens can lay them though at some point. I get the odd one now and again from 9 year old hens which would be expected as their egg laying machines are getting a bit old so glitches can happen as can glitches with young pullets.

It's more likely to be a fairy egg from one of your older birds.
Open it up and see what's inside.
Fairy, fart, wind, rooster eggs are usually from a tiny piece of tissue breaking loose from the reproductive tract, or an immature ova(yolk) and the body forms an egg around it. Color can be darker than 'normal' as the pigment coating released has to cover a much smaller area so is thicker. Can happen with any age layer, but more common with older layers.

It must be from some other hen as there is no red on comb at all. I do have a 3 year old BA but she laid her egg that day. It is much darker than any hens. Thank you. I like "fairy"name more than fart egg . Looks like it belongs in a fairy garden. Looks a lot like a robin size egg .

What a great article. Very informative I always went by red comb and squatting! Now I now to check pelvic bones and where they are. Thanks.

It is much darker than any hens.

Fairy eggs are usually much darker than the 'regular' egg, less surface area to spread the color coating.
