Weird Egg

My corturnix just started laying a few days ago and i got this egg today.. I havent got a clue what caused it

so thought maybe someone here might know the answer

not sure the cause, probably just working out the kinks in the ol' egg factory.

i've had a few eggs lay that are just the membrane and no shell, usually happens when they JUST start to lay.

That looks like root...maybe plant it in the ground, lightly water and you will grow a quail plant

Seriously though, I agree with Mibotsu, not sure the cause, probably just working out the kinks in the ol' egg factory. Never seen anything like it.

you are right Bill it did look kinda like a root..lol... it was laid in the sand box and the tail as i called it had sand stuck to it so i assume it was wet when it was first laid .. it was solid white too no dark color at all .. i guess it was what yall said just working the kinks out...lol..i just thought it was kinda cool looking . weird but cool...
